Homecoming & Family Weekend 2013, October 18th-19th

There's no place like home!  Alvernia University welcomes you back for an exciting weekend of nostalgia and new memories.  Reminisce with classmates, professors, staff, students and their families as you take part in the flurry of events planned for Homecoming & Family Weekend 2013.

Events for 2013 will be announced in the near future.

 

Friday, October 12

Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner & Program
6 p.m., Physical Education Center
The induction into the Alvernia Hall of Fame honors individuals or teams who have performed with distinction or have been instrumental in the overall development and success of Alvernia University athletics.
RSVP required.

Musician-Jeff LeBlanc
7:30 p.m., Crusader Cafe, Student Center
Jeff's new album, Worth Holding On To, rose to #3 on the iTunes Top 200 Singer/Songwriter Chart and #160 overall on iTunes.  Come see what makes us bring him back year after year!

Casino Night
9 p.m., Student Center
Shuffle up and deal for your chance to win great Alvernia gear and other fabulous prizes playing Roulette, Texas Hold'em, Blackjack & Craps.

Alumni House Ribbon Cutting and Blessing
11 a.m., Alumni House (329 St. Bernardine St.- you may park on campus and take the shuttle to the Alumni House since parking there is limited.)

All-Campus Lunch
11 a.m.-1 p.m., Student Center Dining Hall
Join faculty, staff, current students and families for lunch.  Some of the menu items will be:  salad bar, assorted pizza, pasta, carving station, full deli bar, waffles, ice cream sundae station, beverages and much more!
Cost:  $8.50 per person (students on meal plan do not need a ticket for lunch.)
RSVP required.



Alumni Lunch and Tours of Alumni House
Noon-2 p.m., Alumni House (320 St. Bernardine St.-please park on campus and take shuttle since parking is limited.)
Join Alumni and guests for a picnic lunch in celebration of the opening of the Alumni House. 
Lunch is $8.50 per person.
RSVP required.

Nursing Resource Center Open House
Noon-4 p.m.
Stop by the NRC and tour our nursing students "home."

Arts & Crafts
1-4 p.m., Tent at Francis Hall *NEW LOCATION*
Bring the entire family and get your glitter tattoos, photo cubes, wax hands, spin art Frisbees, beading and other fun arts and crafts.

Marian and Friends Ventriloquist
2 p.m., Francis Hall Foyer
Marian and her daughter delight audiences with their family-friendly, laughter-filled show.

Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels

Join us for The Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels family-friendly traveling program entitled "Habitats in the USA."

Class Reunion Mixers
5:30-7 p.m., Tent at Alumni House (329 St. Bernardine St.- please park on campus and take the shuttle, since parking is limited.)
The Class of 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 will be gathering for a reunion social.  Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer along with a lot of catching up on your classmates lives. 

Family Movie Night-"Ice Age-Continental Drift"
6 p.m., Bernardine Lecture Hall
Bring the whole family for a good old fashioned movie night complete with snacks, popcorn and raffle prizes!
*Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Autumn Blast
6:30-9:30 p.m., Tent at Francis Hall *New Location*
Join alumni, faculty and staff as they greet our newest alumni receiving their degrees at our winter commencement, at our fall version of our well-known "Margaritaville."
*This event is for alumni, faculty, staff and students receiving their degree in December.*
RSVP required.  (RSVP before October 1st and receive a free Autumn Blast T-shirt.)



Game Show-"BONK!"
8 p.m., Francis Hall Theatre
Players are selected from the audience and challenged to answer questions. 

Comedian & Ventriloquist-Phil Hughes
10 p.m., Bernardine Lecture Hall
Phil's unique blend of comedy, ventriloquism and audience participation is the reason he's been a favorite with colleges, cruise ships and comedy clubs all over the country.
