The Most Reverend John O. Barres, D.D, S.T.D., J.C.L., toured Alvernia's campus for the first time on Monday, December 7, 2009. Bishop Barres was ordained a Bishop and installed as the fourth Bishop of Allentown on July 30, 2009.
As part of his tour, he visited with student-athletes from the men's and women's basketball teams on the gym floor of the Physical Education Center, and even played a little one-on-one with men's team senior captain Nick Rivera (Reading, Pa., Holy Name).
