More than 370 graduating seniors gathered at the Sovereign Center's Reading Eagle Theatre, May 17, 2008, marking the first official event in Alvernia's 50th anniversary celebration.  Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr was the guest speaker, and Most Rev. Edward P. Cullen (Bishop of Allentown) celebrated Baccalaureate Mass earlier in the day.  Both speakers were awarded Doctoral Degrees in Humane Letters.
In addition, Janice Miller, Wyomissing, and the collective Bernardine Franciscan Sisters were awarded Trustee Emerita.  Lynsey Treadwell, Reading, delivered a student address.
